Oops.

Well, I've shockingly found a way to abandon this blog.  Oops.  I apologize to all my non-existant/imaginary readers!

Since my last post, here's a recap on what's been going on:
-I've worked.  A lot.  A lot a lot.  This whole two job thing isn't all its cracked up to be.  On the positive note: I don't think I've missed a Good Morning America once this summer.  Getting up before 7 am each morning really isn't terrible (especially because I've always naturally been a morning person).  My saint of a mother greets me every morning with a cup of coffee and an egg white omelet (does your mother do that?? didn't think so).
-I joined the cult and read 50 Shades of Grey.  Awful.  Terrible.  Worst book I've ever read.  Finishing it was actually painful.  But at least now I can understand what all the hype is about.  Side note-I immediately re-read The Great Gatsby to make up for it.
-Watching Suits.  Two words: Harvey Specter.
-OMG TOM CRUISE AND KATIE HOLMES DIVORCING?!  Just heard this news now.  She's finally come to her senses.
-Watching the Olympic Trials.  Obsessed.

One of my favorite things I did since my last post was go to the farmers market with my mom.  We have an awesome farmers market every Saturday morning down at Market Square that my parents have been going to for as long as I can remember.  This past Saturday I joined my mom on a beautiful morning to go see what we could find.  Everyone there is friendly and there's just something so great about locally grown produce.  We ended up leaving with some fresh wild flowers, cucumbers, plumbs, potatoes, peppers, and a watermelon.  Yum!  If you're from Tallahassee, you know that afterwards you HAVE to go to Tally's Grill for breakfast (I got french toast and chocolate milk like a sugar-happy nine year-old).

Today's Favorites
-4th of July Pinterest recipes.  Decisions decisions.
-Finding my Frank Sinatra cd buried in my car.  Makes my ride to work enjoyable.

Where I ate this week

I LOVE finding new local restaurants and trying out what they have to offer.  This week, I went to two of Tallahassee's great local eateries and had some delish food that I had to share!

First, I went to a restaurant called 'Sage'.  It's located right behind Premier Health & Fitness Club, and is a wonderful and tiny restaurant with great salads, wines, and excellent choices for any foodie.  I met my mom for lunch here this week after work (it's conveniently located just a block or two behind the law firm I work at).  That day at work, a Title Insurance group brought us in Jimmy Johns, so I couldn't pass up a little Turkey Tom to get me through my day (plus I got to shmooz with the attorneys- I fill them in on Duck Dynasty, the Kardashians, all the educational and important things that I'm sure they fill their day with).  Anyway, I had already pretty much eaten lunch when I got the text from my mom to meet her- but I just couldn't say no to Sage so I decided to go, confident I could find a little something that I could make room for!

It was around 1:30, and the restaurant was full of "ladies who lunch", people enjoying great food over a bottle of wine (something I definitely respect at lunchtime).    I opted for a small caesar salad (I know- SO boring, but I saw someone eating it when I walked in and got a craving for it).  It certainly wasn't boring, so incredibly fresh and just the little bite I needed.  My mom went with a Beet and Mandarine Orange salad that I stole a bite of that was amazing!  When the waiter came back and asked if we saved room for dessert, I answered for the both of us and immediately said yes.  We had a creme brulee (at 2 in the afternoon) that was to die for!  It was served with fresh strawberries in a blueberry puree.

On Friday, my sister and I went to 'Bella Bella', a great Italian restaurant down on Monroe.  It's a great vibe inside, cozy and fun, repurposed doors serve as tables- giving it that fun Tallahassee feel.  We started off with 'bubble bread', a Bella Bella staple (seriously, I don't think there was a table in the entire place who didn't have an order.  I went with one of their specials, a smoked chicken stuffed ravioli dish in a creamy pesto sauce.  It was AMAZING.  I'm much better at the food-eating than I am the food-blogging, so I know I am not properly getting across how wonderful this dish is.  My sister went with a spinach and cheese ravioli that was also amazing.  Great food all washed down with a crisp South African Sauvignon Blanc created a wonderful wine-down (how corny am I?) to my week!

Around my neck

For as long as I can remember, I have been a necklace HOARDER.  It's rare that you'll see me wearing an outfit without a huge statement necklace with it.  I'm obsessed with all jewelry (what girl isn't?) but have a serious necklace fetish and in my opinion- the bigger the better!  Why? Well for starters, necklaces always fit, no matter how many cups of Starbuck's Mocha Ice Cream you have (my ultimate weakness- oops).   You can buy them online and not worry if you got the right size.  They're my favorite thing to dig for at a good antique shop, and they can transform a plain t-shirt into something amazing (why do I sound like a used car salesman?).  Necklaces are great over a simple black sweater in winter, but my favorite kind are bright, big, and floral for summer!  Here are a few pieces currently in my (online/wish-list) jewelry box.

Green Coral Seed Necklace from Violet Clover
Chrysanthemum Necklace from Anthro

Today's Favorites:
-My new Essie nail color: Mojito Madness
-The fact that everyone is watching Dawson's Creek on Netflix right now (I was so obsessed with this show that my dog, Joey, is named after Joey Potter)

The First Post

I've tossed around the idea of creating a blog for a while, but with countless half-filled diaries from my childhood, I feared starting yet another project I don't keep up with- that will NOT happen this time!  I just moved home with my parents after four incredible years at the University of Florida, so I figured now is as good a time as any.  Moving home has been quite the adjustment.  To begin with, I've never ACTUALLY lived in this house.  We moved when I was in college, and never got a chance to get myself settled.  My bedroom resembled a sterile hotel room before I got to put my touch on it (photos to come in a later post!).  I've traded my Monday nights at my favorite bar, The Dog for couch time watching The Bachelorette with a cup of green tea, all before my 10 PM bed time.   I'm starting law school in August at Florida State University.  I basically know NOBODY going there, but am excited for all the new friends I will (hopefully?) make!  For now, I'm spending my summer working mornings at a local law firm, and a few shifts at night waiting tables at Harry's (this whole funding my education thing is getting in the way of my pool time!).

I figured I'll fill my blog with the things that make me happy.  Tales from family trips, my four-legged best friend Joey, clothes, decorating, DIY projects, etc.

Searching for inspiration for the FIRST POST- I just looked down at what I'm wearing: COLORED PANTS!
I'll admit, I was the first to be a little apprehensive about this trend, but once I started, I dove right in (when it rains it pours?).  Currently, I'm wearing bright orange toothpick denim from J Crew.  I actually snagged this pair from the J Crew Outlet in Destin when I went to watch my brother's soccer tournament (I'm a big fan of attending his tournaments in cities with a good Outlet Mall).  My current color palate includes this wonderful orange pair, kelly green cropped denim from Loft, and a pair of bright fuchsia pants from Ann Taylor that I LOVE wearing to work (who says you have to wear black and white in a law firm?).   I decided that my next addition is a toss-up between royal blue and neon pink - any suggestions?  This summer I'm all about color- and I think the colorful pant trend is the perfect way to do it!
Here of some of my favorite ways to ease yourself into this new trend:
For those just starting-
With a neutral colored button up, for just enough of a pop.
Adding a little something more-
With nautical stripes for a playful approach.
For the brave-
Pair your colored denim with a top of a contrasting color for a serious statement (oh, is this orange and blue? GoGators)!
